Monasticon Praemonstratense (III, 102)

Approximate modern location: In the area of Sara, near Saarbrücken.  There is a suburb of St. Arnual in the southeast (but the identification with a St. Annalis with St. Arnual is unknown in any other sources).

Elm-Number [See below]: 62a*

Other Comments: This is an abbey which exists for students of the Premonstratensians only on paper.   The exact location of this house is uncertain, and although the probable location has been listed above, it cannot be determined with certainty.  This Abbey is celebrated in the manuscripts, and according to many was "the second ranking" in the diocese of Metz.

* This listing (and the numbers, with a few adjustments after 1995) is based on the map contained in Kaspar Elm's Norbert von Xanten: Adliger, Ordensstifter, Kirchenfürst, Wienand Verlag, Köln, 1984, page 328-329.
