Heiligerlee, Holland (Frisia)
. . . THIS MAY TAKE A MOMENT OR TWO . . .
This cloister of nuns was established in the 12th century and flourished until the 1530's. It was completely destroyed by the Calvinist Reformation in northern Holland, but this Dutch Reformed Church in the very center of the charming "old town" section of Heiligerlee is said to be built on the foundations of the old cloister church. |
