Our brother John Melchers was born in Schiedam , (SKEE-dahm) Holland in 1878.  He joined the Order at Berne Abbey in 1902 and was solemnly professed in 1907. 

John immigrated to the United States in 1908, and was immediately assigned to St. Louis in Dykesville.  In 1924, trying to save a swimmer’s life, he drowned on Sunday, December 28, 1924 at the age of 46.
