Our brother
Edmund Kinate was born in DePere in 1914. After
his freshman year at the college, he joined the Order in 1932 and was solemnly
professed in 1937.
After
spending the summer of 1939 ministering at Our Lady of Ransom in
Hingham
, Montana
, he was transferred to Southeast Catholic in 1940, where he taught history and
religion. 1946 found him at Archmere,
and ’47 back at Southeast. In
1948, he was back in Hingham
, and in ’49, back at the college and high school.
In 1953, he assisted at
St. Joseph
in
Oneida
and in 1954, at St. Joe’s in
Madison
.
He
bounced to Bishop Neumann in 1956, then back to the college in 1957, and back to
Neumann in 1963. Ed was an avid bridge player and without fail
knew after the bidding was over just what cards each player held.
During recreation, he would usually stop in the T.V. room to see what the
confreres were watching, click through all the channels, and then turn off the
set and walk out! This was
especially "loved" during Packer games!
Ed
was a hemophiliac, and in later life suffered from leukemia.
He died on
Sunday, July 9, 1972 at the age of 57.
